Look up an independent operator
nested maintains verified practice records on fractional executives and senior consultants. Check the record before you hire.
A record lists engagements, references and benchmarks, with the source of every fact marked and dated.
nested verifies what it can by contacting past clients directly. Anything unverified is labelled self-reported.
nested does not rate, rank or recommend. Records are voluntary and maintained at the operator’s expense.

Search result
No record matches “”
Records are voluntary. Many capable operators do not maintain one, so not finding a record tells you nothing about the person or their work.
Check the spelling, or search by record number if you have one. Record numbers look like PR-0247.
Ask the operator directly. Anyone who maintains a record can share it by number or link.
Proceed as you normally would. Take references yourself and form your own view.
Report check
Verify a report
Every downloaded report is generated from the live record and stamped with a report ID. Paste the ID to check that the report you were sent still matches the record today.
If the record has changed since the report was generated, the check says so and points you to the live record. A report that nested cannot match to a record was not produced by nested.
Compare records
3 recordsFacts side by side, as they appear on each record. nested does not score or rank the comparison.

A company account gives your team access to every record: engagement histories, references collected by nested, benchmarks, and the downloadable report. Access is free for buyers.
Look an operator up by name, discipline or record number before you engage them. Every fact is dated and carries its source.
References are collected by nested contacting past clients directly, with the same four questions every time. Declined and unanswered requests stay visible.
nested does not rate, rank or recommend. You see the record; the judgment stays yours.

nested is paid by operators to maintain their records, and never by a buyer to evaluate one. A record does not rate, rank or recommend anyone, and is not a substitute for your own judgment.

How records are made
Method
A practice record is a set of dated, sourced facts about an independent operator's work. This page describes how every fact gets onto a record, and what keeps it honest.
01Every fact carries its source
Verified nested contacted the client directly and the client confirmed the fact.
Corroborated nested has seen documents supporting the fact — contracts, renewals, certificates — but the client was not reached.
Self-reported The operator's own statement, unchecked by nested. Always labelled as such.
02References come from clients, not the operator
nested contacts each client directly and asks the same four questions, every time:
Answers are recorded as given and attributed by role and date. The operator does not see or edit answers before they land on the record. Once collected, answers stay. Declined and unanswered requests stay visible too — a record showing only wins would be a brochure.
03Clients stay anonymous on the record
Engagements appear by stage and sector — “Series A developer tools, 22 staff, US” — never by name. Roles are named in references only where the client consented. Client contact details are used by nested for verification and never shown.
04Records go stale, never silent
Every record is re-checked annually: facts re-dated, disclosures re-asked, benchmarks refreshed. A record that isn't maintained is marked “Last maintained [date]” wherever it appears — it is never quietly deleted, and staleness is itself information. Every change is logged in the record history; nothing is removed.
05Who pays
Operators pay nested to maintain their records (pricing). Buyers never pay nested to evaluate one — search and reports are free for companies. nested does not rate, rank or recommend anyone; a record is not a substitute for your own judgment.

For operators
Pricing
One plan. You pay to maintain the record; the companies checking it never pay nested.
What if I stop paying?
Your record is marked “Last maintained [date]” and stays visible. Records are never deleted — collected references and the change log remain on file. Resume any time and maintenance picks back up.
Can I pay to look better?
No. Payment covers maintenance work, not outcomes. You cannot remove collected answers, hide declined requests, or edit the log — at any price.
Do companies pay anything?
Never. Search, records and reports are free for buyers, so no one can mistake a record for advertising.

Contact
nested does not take calls from buyers about whether to hire an operator. The record is the answer; the judgment is yours.
